Community Home Health & Return to Work Rehabilitation
Available Territories: Vancouver/Burnaby, Tri-Cities, Fraser Valley, Vancouver Island, Kamloops Region

This community based position involves Home Assessments to determine equipment, support and attendant care needs. For clients requiring assistance in Return to Work, functional assessments, job site visits and development of graduated return to work plans also form part of the duties. Depending on candidate experience and interest, the client profile may include individuals with acquired brain injury who require assessment and Cognitive Rehabilitation to increase their independence in home, community and vocational settings. Working with funders including health authorities, insurers and government agencies, the OT will utilize Rehabilitation Case Management to facilitate client access to appropriate health services. Primary health populations include Orthopedics, General Medical and Brain Injury. Secondary health populations include Mental Health and Chronic Pain.

Community Home Health & Brain Injury Rehabilitation
Available Territories: Vancouver/Burnaby & Fraser Valley, Vancouver Island, Kamloops Region

This community based position involves Home Assessments to determine equipment, home support and attendant care needs and Cognitive Rehabilitation to increase client independence in home and community settings. Graduated activity programs to increase physical tolerances or facilitate Community Integration also form a part of this role. Working with funders including health authorities, insurers and government agencies, this position requires OTs to utilize Rehabilitation Case Management to facilitate client access to appropriate health services. Primary health populations include Brain Injury (TBI & Stroke), Complex Orthopedics and General Medical. Experience working with individuals affected by brain injury (stroke, TBI) or other neurological disabilities is required.

Qualifications

  • Work or practicum experience in return to work rehabilitation a strong asset
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written; strong negotiation skills
  • Experience working with insurance fee payers (WorkSafe BC, ICBC etc)
  • Ability to work independently as well as with a multi-disciplinary team as required
  • Commitment to continuous learning through professional development courses
  • Able to develop and supervise Rehabilitation Assistant plans
  • Current member of COTBC
  • For candidates interested in Return to Work Rehabilitation experience in WorkSafeBC programs such as OR2, RTWSS & FCE is also favourable
