Approximately half of people worldwide do not take their medications as prescribed, resulting in poorer health outcomes, disability, institutionalization, and even death. Occupational therapy practitioners are positioned to help clients better take their prescribed medication regimes by addressing medication management in regular practice. In this webinar, we will discuss the occupation of managing medications and the role of the occupational therapy practitioner in this interdisciplinary topic. Then we will review evidence-based screens and performance-based evaluations. Finally, we discuss evidence-based strategies occupational therapists can use to help their clients better take their medications as prescribed.
