Frequently Asked Questions
A list of frequently asked questions is listed below for your convenience. Should you have a question that is not answered in this section, do not hesitate to contact the Education Administrator at education@caot.ca. We would be happy to assist you.
1. What do I need to participate?
Webinars are web-supported teleconferences, meaning that they are conducted by telephone and online. Participants call into a teleconference line for the audio portion of the webinar, as well as log onto an online conferencing platform to view the presentation. In short, participants will require a computer with high speed Internet access as well as a telephone line by the computer that he/she will be using.
2. What do I do once the webinar begins?
Once you have logged into both portions of the webinar, just quietly listen for the presentation to start. The presenter is responsible for moving the slides; all you need to do is listen intently and watch your computer screen.
3. When will I receive login information?
Login numbers and codes are sent out via email by the Education Administrator one week prior to the webinar, as well as a few days prior (ie. for Lunch & Learns, login information is sent out the Tuesday prior, as well as the following Friday). Participants should check their email accounts regularly to ensure they have received all of the necessary information. You can update your email address on the CAOT website by logging in using your CAOT membership number and updating your profile.
4. Will I receive handouts prior to the session?
A pdf copy of the presentation slides are sent to the registrants one week prior to the webinar in handout form, and then again two days prior. Please print a copy of these handouts prior to the session if you wish to take notes during the presentation.
5. How do I obtain a certificate of completion for my professional development portfolio?
Certificates of completion are sent via email only upon request – participants must email the Education Administrator at education@caot.ca and provide their full names and the name of the webinar that they attended and request a certificate. Only those who have registered for the session are offered certificates.
6. How do I register?
Participants may register online where indicated on the CAOT website, or, if they are encountering problems with online registration, they may contact the Education Administrator at (800) 434-2268 x231 for assistance.
7. I’m not able to attend the live webinar, but will there be a recorded version posted?
Lunch & Learn sessions are not recorded; therefore, you must register and attend the live session if you wish to participate. CAOT will soon be recording Water Cooler Talks and posting them on the CAOT website for a period of 2 months, and can be downloaded for free by members of CAOT.
8. Can I have more than one person view the presentation with me?
Registrants are encouraged to invite others to participate in the webinar with them, but only those who have registered for the event will receive certificates of completion as there is no way to confirm attendance for groups of therapists.
9. Is there a cost?
Lunch & Learns are offered for $50 for CAOT members (plus GST/HST) and $75 for non-members (plus GST/HST). Water Cooler Talks are free but are only open to CAOT members.
10. Are the webinars offered in English or in French?
All webinars are offered in English only, though there is a possibility that they may be offered in French in the future.
11. Do I need to be a CAOT member to participate?
Lunch & Learns are open to members and non-members, but Water Cooler Talks are exclusive to CAOT members.
