Occupational Therapist
Temporary Full Time – 35 Hours per week
August 7, 2012 – March 8, 2013

Reporting to the Director of Rehabilitation Services the Occupational Therapist will provide assessment, development and implementation of treatment programs.  This will include providing assessments of children referred to FIREFLY on the basis of developmental delays, specifically motor related delays. You will be required to develop and implement treatment plans based on initial and ongoing assessments while acting as a resource for other FIREFLY staff and community agencies. You will liaise with the FIREFLY multi-disciplinary team to provide program coordination.  Extensive travel to outlying areas within the Kenora/Rainy River district will be required.

Qualifications: 

• Masters or Bachelors Degree in Occupational Therapy
• Registration with the College of Occupational Therapy in Ontario
• Previous experience in a pediatric setting will be considered an asset
• Sound knowledge of normal/abnormal child development
• Ability to use a wide range of assessment tools
• Demonstrated proficiency in the use of occupational therapy techniques
• Ability to work creatively with clients both individually and in group settings
• Sensitivity to the needs of parents/caregivers and the ability to support and involve them in programming
• Computer literate with experience in electronic client file entry
• Valid driver’s license in good standing
• Criminal reference/vulnerable sector check in good standing
