Presenter/Chair: Emma Smith, MScOT, ATP/SMS
Description: This meeting will be an introduction to the World Health Organization's Global Cooperation on Assistive Technology (GATE) initiative. GATE was formed in response to Article 32 of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, which calls for international cooperation to facilitate access to assistive technologies for all individuals who require them. The GATE initiative has embarked on several projects across the areas of People, Provision, Policy, Personnel, and Products. Emma Smith, currently a Friedman Scholar at Maynooth University in Ireland working on the GATE project, will introduce the initiative and it's current and planned work, and discuss opportunities for involvement of those who may be interested.
