Exploring pediatric models of anxiety, resilience, and regulation: Empowering children through occupational therapy (March 26, 2024)
Description

Presented by: Dr. Christopher Alterio & Caroline Alterio

There have been significant increases in the prevalence of pediatric depression and anxiety associated with the COVID-19 pandemic (Racine, et al., 2021; Slomski, 2021). Occupational therapists play a pivotal role in helping children increase self-awareness, understand their emotions, and develop effective self-regulation strategies.

This webinar will delve into models of occupational therapy and have a focus on pediatric anxiety, resilience, and regulation. By analyzing existing evidence and research, a case study example will illustrate how occupational therapy can effectively support children in managing anxiety, fostering resilience, and enhancing self-regulation.

After taking part in this webinar, participants will be able to:

  1. Analyze evidence on models of pediatric anxiety, resilience, and regulation and how they apply to occupational therapy.
  2. Explore occupational therapy strategies through a case study example that can help children foster resilience, increase self-awareness, and better understand their own emotions and patterns of self-regulation.
