Bringing Together Life and Ongoing Rehabilitation After Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) (February 27, 2018)

Matthew Hill is a severe TBI survivor – Hemiparesis, Cognitive Disability and continually working with ongoing Executive Dysfunctions and personality/emotional changes and challenges. He will present on 5 topic areas of rehabilitation: Trauma of Injury/Insult, Physical Rehab, Cognitive Rehab, Emotional/Behavioural/Executive (Dys)Function, and  Choices and Life – Bringing Together Life After Injury and Ongoing Rehabilitation. In addition, he will present and fuel dialogue and sharing of ideas in break-out sessions following each section-area presentation. In this webinar, Matthew hopes to have at least one individual in each group who either works with or has worked with TBI survivors.

After taking part in this webinar, participants will:

  1. Be able to better understand challenges faced by TBI survivors
  2. Gain insight and skills for developing therapies for survivors
  3. Insight and ideas for helping survivors integrate therapies into their everyday lives – Turn rehab exercises and practice into regular daily life.
  4. Interact with others and brainstorm/develop methods for bringing therapy modalities to survivors.
  5. Discuss and explore the reality of life-changing accidents/injuries and how therapists and therapy assistants are on the front-line of rehab and can help clients to come to terms and understand the changes in their lives. No, not psychology, but therapists and assistants often hear how clients struggle with change and sometimes that struggle can get in the way of rehab.
