Driving to Recovery: Assessment of Fitness to Drive for Acquired Brain Injury
Title
Driving to Recovery: Assessment of Fitness to Drive for Acquired Brain Injury
Description
ON-DEMAND WEBINAR PURCHASE (INDIVIDUAL)
Between 40% and 60% of people with moderate to severe brain injuries return to driving after their injury (Novak and Lopez, 2015). It is therefore critical that occupational therapists properly evaluate and discuss all options of community mobility prior to discharge from any setting. However, there is limited research that supports generalizability of driving assessment tools (Classen et al., 2009). This webinar will explore predictors of fitness to drive for adults and older adults with acquired brain injuries, the relationship between clinical evaluation and on road assessment for driving rehabilitation in acquired brain injury, and appropriate pre-driving screening tools for this population.
After taking part in this webinar, participants will:
Understand the relationship between clinical evaluation and on road assessment for driver rehabilitation in adults and older adults who sustained an acquired brain injury.
Be able to identify pre-driving screening tools for the occupational therapy generalist.
Be aware of tools utilized with adults who sustained an acquired brain injury population as predictors of fitness to drive.
