Mental health consumers face challenges in everyday life due to cognitive problems associated with severe mental health conditions. An evidence-based framework enables occupational therapists to improve functional cognition through assessment and intervention, concepts of remediation and functional strategies will be presented.
This webinar will provide an overview of a variety of evidence-based assessments and intervention methods delivered by occupational therapists to address functional barriers to life, due to cognitive problems associated with serious mental health diagnoses such as paranoid schizophrenia. The occupational therapist role in advocating for these clients will also be covered.
After taking part in this webinar, participants will be able to:
Identify different aspects of functional cognition based on Plan Recall Perceive Perform assessment (PRPP) and Allan Cognitive Levels (ACL).
Describe the areas and methods of cognitive remediation for schizophrenia.
Understand the role of OT in advocating for clients through reporting for support levels in community.
