A Survival Guide for an Occupation-Focused Therapist

A Survival Guide for an Occupation-Focused Therapist

In current occupational therapy practice the link to our core philosophy is not always explicit. It can be challenging for individual therapists to maintain an occupation-focus due to the pressures of modern health care settings. However, it is important that we reclaim our expert knowledge to advance our profession into the future.
Strategies, developed using the latest literature and anecdotal experiences, will be presented to reclaim, or maintain, the centrality of occupation in practice. Practical examples and experiences of implementation will be discussed. Also presented will be resources and networks to enable therapists to re-engage with occupation and occupation-focused practice.
