Mobilizing occupation for social transformation: Radical resistance, disruption and re-configuration
Muriel Driver Memorial Lecture (Virtual)
Deborah Laliberte Rudman

October 29, 2020, 12 pm ET, Zoom

We look forward to welcoming Deborah Laliberte Rudman to deliver this year’s Muriel Driver Memorial Lecture!  As Deborah was not able to deliver her lecture in person at  CAOT Conference 2020, we are pleased and grateful that she will now share her work with the whole occupational therapy community in a complimentary webinar format.

Deborah has made extensive contributions to occupational therapy and occupational science and is a well-loved source of support for students and researchers. Her scholarly work exploring the broader socio-political systems and structures that shape occupational possibilities, particularly for marginalized populations, has brought a fresh perspective to understanding occupation – one that challenges us to apply a critical lens to the use of power and privilege that influences opportunities to engage in occupation.

The Muriel Driver Memorial Lectureship Award honours a CAOT member who has made an outstanding contribution to the profession through research, education and the practice of occupational therapy. The Muriel Driver Memorial Lecture is given by the previous year’s Muriel Driver Memorial Award recipient and provides an opportunity to reflect on the current and future state of the profession, the way it is practiced and the way it could be practised.

Deborah’s award nominators, Jan Polgar and Colleen McGrath will introduce our esteemed speaker.
