Cognitive Functional Capacity Evaluation - The unique contribution of occupational therapy for return to work (May 25, 2021)
Description

ON-DEMAND WEBINAR PURCHASE

Presented by: Tania Percy

The Comprehensive Functional Capacity Evaluation (C-FCE) is offered by occupational therapists to evaluate functional cognitive capacity for the purposes of determining feasibility and capacity to return to employment.  With utilization of a standardized methodology that focuses on ecologically valid measures, evaluation of executive functioning, psycho-emotional status, work endurance/activity tolerance and feasibility for employment, OTs are in a unique position to determine capacity for return to work, guide rehabilitation intervention and assist with return to work planning for clients with identified cognitive and psycho-emotional deficits.

This webinar will review how to understand, measure and analyze the cognitive demands of work. An introduction will be provided on how to apply a Comprehensive Functional Capacity Evaluation methodology (Cog FCE) that considers the client's presenting complaints (i.e. client specific) and essential cognitive job demands (i.e. employment specific). This webinar will also highlight how to target executive functioning and activity tolerance when administering a Cog FCE.

After taking part in this webinar, participants will:

  1. Be familiar with methods to determine and measure cognitive demands of a job.
  2. Be familiar with a range of assessment tools to address cognitive deficits, mental health issues, and other standardized and non-standardized tests that maximize ecological validity and suitability for work-specific activity.
  3. Know how to define executive function and consider operational definitions within the Cog FCE.
  4. Begin to understand how to target and evaluate activity tolerance and work endurance for clients with cognitive deficits.
