Find an OT Terms of use

The purpose of Find an OT is to help Canadians locate an occupational therapist by geography or by area of practice.  

Find an OT cannot be released or sold to any third parties and is not intended to be used for commercial, promotional, solicitation or other similar uses. Use of FIND an OT to generate mailing lists, e-mail lists, phone lists or other lists for any purpose is prohibited. 

USER RESPONSIBILIITES: It is the responsibility of the user to confirm that the occupational therapist is currently registered with their respective regulatory body to practice occupational therapy. Please check directly with the Association of Canadian Occupational Therapy Regulatory Organizations regarding an occupational therapist’s registration status. Click here to see the list of regulatory bodies. It is also the responsibility of the user to verify that members, that have self-identified as expert occupational therapists, have the qualifications and knowledge to be considered an expert in a specific area of practice. 

MEMBERS’ RESPONSIBILITIES: CAOT Members choosing to partake in Find an OT must follow the code of ethics as outlined by their provincial regulators. 

Find OT: Expertise section Based on criteria, CAOT members can identify as experts in an area of practice. It is the responsibility of members that participate in the program to avoid making any false representation about their level of competence and expertise in the area of practice they are self-identifying as an expert. CAOT does not independently verify whether the occupational therapist meets these criteria. Fees: Occupational therapists that self-identify as experts determine their own fee rate based on their work experience and expertise. While a National Fee Schedule exists, it will only provide an average number. As such, the fee for occupational therapist services will vary depending on years of experience, knowledge and expertise of the occupational therapist.
