Description

ON-DEMAND WEBINAR PURCHASE

Presented by: Stephanie Adams, DHSc, OTR/L

There has been a rise of young adults with mental health concerns; challenges are present and can create difficulties with everyday tasks and academic success. Executive functions diminish when stress increases, causing difficulty in completing complex activities and obtaining occupational balance in one’s life. The role of a student can be overwhelming when academic demands are high and frequent. Having other life roles “hats” may make life seem chaotic, complicated, and hard to manage. Occupational therapy professionals have a distinct role in educating and supporting young adults on executive functions to teach them how to develop and obtain quality-of-life outcomes.

This webinar will address executive functions and mental health, as they are interconnected and may impact the young adult population. The distinct value and role of occupational therapy professionals in supporting those with executive function challenges will be described. A review of current literature on executive functions, mental health, and exploration of strategies will be discussed to support the young adult in the various roles they maintain, especially while in an educational program.

After taking part in this webinar, participants will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate an understanding of executive functions and mental health connected to various occupational roles for young adults.
  2. Identify strategies that can support and equip young adults for life success.
