The Occupational Therapy and Sensory Processing Disorder Network had its inaugural teleconference in September of 2009, after a few years of the original Network members discussing at various conferences and workshops how isolated they felt working in clinics across Canada. They shared many of the same practice issues, rewards and challenges of working with those individuals with sensory processing and motor planning difficulties. They believed that they could make more positive changes in providing occupational therapy to this growing population by working as a cohesive group versus working in isolation.
This Network was renamed the Occupational Therapy and Sensory Processing (OTSP) Network in in July 2014 in order to be more inclusive of all sensory processing and motor planning challenges.
Purpose
To promote, develop, and support the role of occupational therapy and occupational therapists in the provision of evidence informed assessment and intervention for those with sensory processing and motor planning challenges.Objectives
- To provide a forum for CAOT members to share expertise, experience, and resources in the assessment and intervention for those with sensory processing and motor planning challenges.
- To provide education, resources and awareness of the role of occupational therapy for those with sensory processing and motor planning challenges for families and the public in general.
- To promote and support research in the area of sensory processing and motor planning.
